A relationship spanning generations

Bianca Crocker’s relationship with King & Whittle began through her family. Her parents had relied on the firm for approximately 25 years to support their manufacturing business, and her father held Robert Barrese, Director of King & Whittle, and the broader team in very high regard. Following her father’s passing and the closure of the family business, King & Whittle continued to assist her mother with her financial affairs. This continuity reinforced the firm’s role as a trusted family adviser, one that understood the family’s history, circumstances and long-term financial goals.

When Bianca later established her own consulting business, she turned to King & Whittle for support. While the relationship began through her parents, the firm earned her trust independently by helping her understand and confidently manage her own financial affairs. She has now worked with King & Whittle for approximately 15 years, receiving advice across both her business and personal finances. This has included accounting and taxation, business structuring, wealth management, investments and retirement planning.

Throughout changing business circumstances and significant life events, King & Whittle has provided the clarity, continuity and confidence she needed to make informed decisions.

The challenge: turning financial complexity into understanding

Bianca works in the not-for-profit and charity sector. She initially ran her own consultancy, providing coaching, education, fundraising and marketing support to smaller charities. Over the past five years, Bianca has become a partner in a larger consulting agency working with charities of varying sizes. Her current role includes supporting major fundraising and capital campaigns, as well as connecting high-net-worth individuals and philanthropists with causes that reflect their interests and values.

When she first started her business, however, financial administration was a significant source of stress. Preparing Business Activity Statements was confusing, time-consuming and often took two or three days to complete. Based on his own positive experience, her father encouraged her to seek advice from King & Whittle. Bianca did not simply want someone to complete the work on her behalf. She wanted to understand her financial position, the obligations of running a business and the reasoning behind the advice she received.

What I particularly love is King & Whittle’s ability to teach. I want to understand what is happening. I don’t just want someone to do everything and leave me with no idea.”

How King & Whittle helped

King & Whittle’s ability to educate and empower Bianca has been central to the relationship. Rather than simply taking responsibility for compliance and financial administration, the team helped her build her own knowledge and confidence over time. She describes the experience as a 15-year learning journey across both her business and personal finances.

“The learning journey they have taken me on over the past 15 years, across both my business and personal finances, has been incredible.”

Combining technical expertise with a listening, caring and supportive approach, King & Whittle has helped Bianca:

  • understand her financial obligations and principles behind the advice she receives
  • approach business finances with greater confidence
  • reduce the stress and time associated with financial administration
  • make informed decisions as her circumstances and priorities have changed
  • plan with greater clarity for investments, wealth creation and retirement.

The value of the relationship extends well beyond taxation and compliance. King & Whittle has given Bianca the knowledge and confidence to participate actively in her financial decisions, while knowing that trusted advisers are available to guide and support her.

A partnership built on trust

Over time, the relationship has developed into a deeply personal and trusted partnership. Bianca describes Robert as a dear friend to both her and her family. This reflects several qualities that distinguish the King & Whittle experience:

  • continuity across generations
  • deep personal trust and genuine care
  • long-term commitment beyond individual transactions
  • respect built through consistent, reliable advice
  • support that evolves as the client’s circumstances change

The relationship demonstrates how professional advice can remain personal without compromising expertise, objectivity or quality.

The impact

What began as a family connection has become an enduring advisory partnership. King & Whittle transformed financial administration from a source of stress into an area Bianca could understand and engage with confidently. The firm has supported her from the early stages of running a small consultancy through to becoming a partner in a larger agency, while also helping her navigate her personal finances, investments and future planning. The result is a relationship defined not only by technical advice, but by trust, education, continuity and genuine care.
