How this story started

When Jeremy and Megan established their commercial roofing business from their home, they turned to their accounting team at King & Whittle for guidance from the outset. They had identified a clear market opportunity and were committed to delivering a quality outcome for every client, a value that strongly reflects King & Whittle’s own approach.

With hard work, strong demand and careful planning, the business grew rapidly. Before long, Jeremy and Megan were managing a team of approximately 50 employees and contractors and navigating the increasing financial and operational complexity that comes with a growing enterprise.

Supporting the business as it grew

As the business expanded, King & Whittle’s role evolved from traditional accounting support to broader business advisory. Working closely with Jeremy and Megan, the team helped ensure the business was structured appropriately to manage risk, protect the value they were creating and take advantage of opportunities as they emerged. This included strategic tax and structuring advice and, at the appropriate stage, helping Jeremy and Megan acquire the commercial premises used by the business through their self-managed superannuation fund.

By considering both the immediate needs of the business and Jeremy and Megan’s longer-term financial position, King & Whittle helped them make informed decisions as the scale and value of the enterprise increased.

Guiding a successful business sale

After years of building the business, Jeremy and Megan were approached by a larger company interested in acquiring it. The potential sale represented both an exciting opportunity and a significant financial decision.

King & Whittle worked alongside Jeremy and Megan throughout the process, providing advice and guidance as negotiations progressed and helping them understand the financial and tax implications of the transaction. The result was a successful seven-figure sale and a rewarding outcome from the business they had built from the ground up.

Looking ahead with confidence

For Jeremy and Megan, the sale was not the end of their entrepreneurial journey. Having completed his obligations under the terms of the transaction, Jeremy started considering what might come next. Still in his 40s, he is keen to apply the experience, expertise and insights gained from building and successfully exiting the business to future opportunities.

King & Whittle continues to support Jeremy and Megan with accounting, financial and business advice as their priorities evolve. Just as the firm was there when the business began, King & Whittle remains alongside them as they enter their next chapter.

What King & Whittle’s business advisory support has meant for Jeremy and Megan

For Jeremy and Megan, the relationship has always extended beyond numbers and transactions. It is built on trusted advice, continuity and a genuine understanding of what they are working to achieve.

“King & Whittle has so much passion for what they do. They really care about us, and that is the difference.”
